Over 2,000 children had raced their Pinewood cars to try to make it to the final Derby on Saturday. Nolan was one of the few who made it. He was elated to be racing. When his name was called he ran to the front to collect his car and present it to the officials to place on the track. Each car raced in each of the 6 lanes once. The top 12 cars made it to the final round. We were unsure if he made it, but quickly found out that he tied for 11th place. Whew. The final round began. We were biting our nails (at least I was). I knew it really didn't matter at this stage in the game because Nolan was a winner no matter the outcome. He had made it to the top 12 out of 2,000 racers! The race came to an end and Nolan made 11th place. As the leader gave Nolan his trophy he was laughing and patting Nolan on the back, congratulating Nolan for being the YOUNGEST to win!
